Adi Bar, Conductor  

The young conductor Adi Bar was born in Israel and received his first piano lessons at the age of six. A pianist who has been the recipient of numerous international prizes, he discovered his passion for opera and the symphonic repertoire and established himself as a conductor within a short time.

Adi Bar ́s highlights of the 2017-2018 season include the productions of Verdi ́s "Rigoletto" at the Opera Poznan, "Don Carlo" at the Opera Romana Craiova, Richard Wagner Gala with the Thüringen Philharmonic Orchestra at the Kloster Eberbach, Mozart’s "Le Nozze di Figaro" with the Israeli Sinfonietta Beer Sheva/Opera Studio of the Israeli Opera and performances of Prokofieff ́s "Cinderella", Wagner´s "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" and Puccini ́s "Madama Butterfly“. 

Since 2017 Adi Bar works as a Conductor and assistant to the music director at the Opera Poznan. 

In the 2016-2017 season Adi Bar worked with the Konzerthaus Orchestra Berlin as Assistant Conductor to Iván Fischer. He conducted the Budapest Symphony Orchestra MAV, the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, the Anima Musicae Orchestra and led productions of Verdi ́s "Otello" and „La Traviata“. 

In the 2015-2016 season Adi Bar conducted Krzysztof Penderecki ́s opera „The Black Mask“ at the Warsaw National Opera and at the Baltic Opera Danzig. He conducted concerts at the Berliner Philharmonie and Leipzig Gewandhaus and led the productions of Puccini ́s „Tosca" with the Constanta National Theatre, Mascagni ́s "Cavalleria Rusticana" and Leoncavallo ́s "I Pagliacci" with the Smetana Philharmonic Orchestra Prague. 

In the 2014-2015 season Adi Bar worked at the Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern and conducted productions of Verdi's „Nabucco“ and Bizet ́s „Carmen“. In the 2013-2014 season he conducted symphony concerts with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Lecce, with the Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta and took over the the musical direction of Lehár's „Lustige Witwe“ at the Frankfurt Chamber Opera. In the 2012-2013 season Adi Bar made his debut at the Mannheim Nationaltheater with Mozart's „Zauberflöte“ and was guest conductor at the Polish Chamber Philharmonic orchestra.

In the 2011-2012 season Adi Bar worked as Conductor and musical assistant at Dresden's Semperoper and  conducted concerts with the Stettin Opera orchestra.


In the 2010-2011 season Adi Bar conducted the Südwestfalen Philharmonic and led concerts with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic and concerts at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt.

2008-2010 Adi Bar was Kapellmeister at the Augsburg Theater. There he conducted numerous opera and ballet productions, including Mozart's „Zauberflöte“, Stravinsky's „Histoire du Soldat“, Rossini's „Il Barbiere di Seviglia“, Offenbach's „Orpheus in der Unterwelt“, Lehár's „Das Land des Lächelns“ and  Lorzing's „Zar und Zimmermann“.

As a soloist, chamber musician and Lieder accompanist, Adi Bar has made concert appearances with artists such as tenor Giacomo Aragall, sopranos Eva Mei and Petra Lang, clarinettist Wolfgang Meyer, cellists Martin Ostertag and Wolfgang Boettcher and violinist Hagai Shaham.

There have been many concerts with orchestras including the Südwestdeutschen Philharmonie Konstanz, the Württembergischen Philharmonie Reutlingen, the Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha, the Göttinger Symphonieorchester and the Vogtland Philharmonie; also regular participation in international festivals, among them the Viandem Festival Luxembourg, the Augsburg Mozartiade, the Upper Galilee Chamber Music Festival in Israel and the „Thy“ Chamber Music Festival in Denmark.

His achievements as a pianist are documented in numerous recordings and radio and television productions for broadcasters such as ARD,  DeutschlandRadioBerlin, Sender Freies Berlin, SWR and the Israel Culture Channel; the works performed include Schubert's „Winterreise“, „Die Schöne Müllerin“, Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 and works for the piano by Schumann and Prokofiev.
